Post Placement Adoption Services
Post Placement Supervision is required in every adoption. Interviews with all household members assess how the placement is going, including how the child and each family member is adjusting. These reports are sent to the court, attorneys, agency, and the Interstate Compact for The Placement of Children (ICPC).
Interviews and home visits are conducted for the period of time between placement of a child in the adoptive home and the adoption finalization in court. The number of Post Placement Visits required will vary, based on the laws in the state that has jurisdiction over the adoption.
Families who have used a non-Adoption Choices home study for an adoption may contact and apply with Adoption Choices of New York for Post Placement Supervision. Your home study will need to be reviewed and you will be asked to do new child abuse and criminal clearances.
Once your adoption is finalized, your contract with Adoption Services ends. However, consultations, referrals, and resources are available, should you require assistance in the future.
